How We Help

In the event of an emergency or disaster, MI SART will be mobilized to provide assistance with pets, including decontamination, shelter set-up, Incident Management Team support and evacuation.

Our History

MI SART is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that was created in 2006.  Seed money for the creation of the organization was provided by the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), PetSmart Charity and the Michigan Humane Society.

How You Can Help

Become a volunteer!  If you are interested in being a member of the team: 

Login to https://training.fema.gov and complete the following courses: 

  • IS-10.a Animals in Disaster: Awareness and Preparedness 
  • IS-11.a Animals in Disaster: Community Planning IS-100.c Introduction to the Incident Command System 
  • IS-700.b Introduction to the National Incident Management System 

Then go to https://www.mivolunteerregistry.org to register.
